Sounds and Zounds

Brian Eno’s has over his career created some amazing master pieces, works that we look at 10 years later and realized that they created the sound of the time. “Another Day on Earth” is Eno’s newest CD and it shows his mastery of sound and composition. It also is a CD of enjoyable pop, like the track “This” but then hits hard with the prose of a female suicide bomber with the track “Bone Bomb”. Eno’s is not reinventing himself on this disc, there are many tracks like “A Long Way Down” and “Going Unconscious” that you realize it is a Brain Eno only after first note is played. This being said the familiar is sometimes frustrating in these tracks, hoping that he would expand on is atmospheric sound. On my recent trip to China “Just Another Day” became the sound track for my trip, it’s march though sounds with observations and hopes for the future.
