Two Barns

I shot and processed these two photos of a barn in Salem and I am not sure how I feel about them. Which one do you like better? Or do you think I should reshoot it when I am back in Salem?

    Hi Eoin,
interesting question and fun to think about.

Picture #1 —the big barn on right is excellent.
Beautiful color, excellent texture of the red paint and wood surface.
There is just the right amount of light on the surface to give warmth
and a kind of a glow.

The smaller barn is almost invisible as is the fence. If you can lighten that as well as the sky just a little, it would be great. Also I would be tempted to make quite a large print so the viewer can look at different sections as well as standing back to see the whole picture.

    What do you think?

      Sylvia,
Thanks for your feedback. I agree these images need to be large.

I am attracted more to the first one. It has a mysterious stormy weather like quality, which resonates with my imagination when picturing a country barn in Salem. Also, it is softer on the eyes, while still retaining important detail compared to the extreme clarity of barn 2. Just my opinion.
