One of the hardest things for me, about being a Beekeeper in the North East, is winter. Winter is the time that all the Drones (males) get kicked out of the hive and the rest of the hive clusters together to stay warm. Every weekend for the last few weeks I have been cleaning dead bees out of the front of the hive and it makes me panic a little each time. Though the reality is in the hive there is about 30 to 40 thousand healthy bees, but just seeing the 5 to 10 on the deck always makes me worry.
Happy New Year! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been distracted by many wonderful projects. One of which is the new addition to our household Bear (photo above).
I will have many new images in the near future. If you have not visited my newest project and you are an photographer, designer or from Cape Ann your may enjoy this blog I started about my grandparents. 18haven.com
